Removing members and deleting a workspace
Admins remove people on the Members page, and access ends at once. This page shows what happens to shares, prompts, brains and the seat, and when a workspace can be deleted by its own admin.

Removing a person
- 1
Open Members
In the sidebar, under Workspace, click Members. - 2
Open the person's menu
Open the menu at the end of the row and choose Remove. - 3
Confirm
The dialog names the person and says what happens to their seat. Confirm with Remove.
What happens on removal
Every right tied to the person's membership goes with them. Content that others still need stays in the workspace.
| What | What happens |
|---|---|
| Access to the workspace | ends at once |
| Shares the person received: brains, chats, agents | are deleted. If the person is invited again later, they start without any shares. |
| The person's private prompts | are deleted, because nobody else could ever see them |
| The person's workspace prompts | are kept. Admins can edit them. |
| The person's own chats and projects | are kept but are no longer visible to anyone. Chats the person had shared stay readable for the people they were shared with. If a period is set under Delete conversations after, Custodos deletes the chats when it runs out. |
| The person's agents | Agents shared with the workspace or with individual people are kept, and admins can edit them. Private agents stay invisible to everyone. |
| Brains the person created | If nobody else may edit them and Admins have access to every brain is off, they pass to the admins. The log shows this as Brain passed to the admins. |
| Seat | The confirmation dialog says which rule applies: depending on your billing, the seat stops being billed from the next invoice, or it stays free and can be given to someone else. Periods already paid are not refunded. |
| The person's account | remains. Memberships in other workspaces are not affected. |
When removal is not possible
- Admins cannot remove themselves. Ask another admin to do it.
- Nobody can remove the workspace's only admin. Make another person an admin first, see Roles.
Bringing a removed person back
Someone who was removed cannot rejoin through the invitation link. Invite them personally by email as described under Inviting members. They then start without their earlier shares.
When a member wants to leave
There is no separate command for leaving a workspace. A member asks an admin to remove them.
Anyone who wants to leave Custodos entirely closes their account under Your account, in the Danger zone, with Close account. This removes the person from every workspace, deletes their chats everywhere and cannot be undone. See Account.
Deleting a workspace
A workspace can be deleted by its own admin in one case only: you are the admin and its only member, and nothing has ever been billed. This fits, for instance, a trial workspace you no longer need because you have since joined your company's workspace.
- 1
Open your account
In the menu at the bottom of the sidebar, open Account settings. - 2
Choose delete
The Danger zone shows Delete workspace … with the workspace's name. Click Delete workspace. - 3
Confirm
Type the workspace's short name as shown and confirm. All chats, documents and settings are deleted for good.
